Shorter, simpler domain names are now available as a new option for Australian web and email addresses.
The .au direct launched in March 2022 and provides flexibility to choose a short, memorable .au domain name. For business owners, this can be a great asset for your business’s digital brand.
Complete the form below to enquiry about your .au (direct) domain
What does your business need to do to register an exact match of an existing .au domain?
If your business has an existing eligible .au domain name (such as .com.au and .net.au), you have until 20 September 2022 to indicate whether you to intend to apply for the exact match of your name in .au direct via the Priority Allocation Process.
The good news is we’re here to help with the process!
If you choose not to apply for the exact match of a name it will become available to the general public. Your existing domain names will all continue to operate as normal.
Benefits of securing your .au direct domain
- Shorter, simpler domain names
- Easier for clients to remember
- Brand protection of your current digital assets
- Stop malicious individuals buying your .au direct domain and using it to impersonate your business or onselling it to you for a highly inflated price in the future
Do I need to change my website from .com.au to .au?
The short answer is no…
If you’ve got an existing website that uses .com.au this carries just as much weight with Google as the new .au direct. In fact existing websites will have the advantage of being “crawled” by Google and establishing themselves in the rankings.
We suggest that you use this as a marketing tool. Point it to your main domain (we can help with that) and use it in marketing. Most importantly its about Brand Protection.
